Autism and emotionally challenged children are my areas of specialty. For the last six years I have worked with this population of children. It takes extreme patience and confidence to be able to work with these children, since they can be very challenging at times. With my experience working with these children, I have been able to learn skills that are necessary in order to work with this population of children. There is a very high demand for qualified teachers in this area of education, and I feel that I have the tools to be able to work with these children successfully.
Autism is a unique disability that looks different in every child that you encounter. I have had the privilege to work with many different levels of autistic children and learned how to work with these children to address their needs. Emotionally challenged children are a special population of children that have a very difficult home life, in most cases. The children need help and guidance as to how to control their emotions in the proper way. It takes extreme patience to work with these children. They are vulnerable and lack many social coping skills. It is my job as a teacher to show these children how to cope appropriately. |
